Drug Resistant Tuberculosis and Therapeutic Effectiveness of Newly Synthesized Compounds with Antioxidant Activity

Project Status: 3 Approved without Funding
Duration in months: 36 months

Objective

We propose to use some preparations which could be useful in repair processes and active in increase of immunity at drug resistant tuberculosis (DRT) of lungs. One of mentioned substances is Larifan (ds-RNA) and its calcium precipitate (Ca2+-ds-RNA), entitled “Zetapol”, which was synthesized by a group of scientists from the Armenian National Academy of Sciences. “Zetapol” is a very good remedy with antimicrobial and antiviral properties, being able to increase the non-specific resistance of the organism and to induce the activity of tissue interferon on the level of molecular mechanisms.

One of the main purposes of the project offered is to carry out nucleosides synthesis of pyrimidine nature, as well as of analogues of natural antibiotics such as sparcomycine, tubercidin, sangivamycin et str. and to conduct wide investigations on therapeutic effectiveness of aciclonucleosites such as acyclovir analogues, which may cause a significant interest in DRT clinic, as very active compounds with prophylactic and antibacterial properties.

The investigations will be directed to studying the impact of newly synthesized compounds mentioned on disorders of phospholipid metabolism, free radical oxidation of lipids, as well as blood coagulation processes, damaged with DRT in the experimental and clinical issues.
