Assessing the Impact of the Amended Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material on States Parties
Project Status: 6 Project underway
Commencement Date: 01.09.2023
Duration in months: 0 months
Objective
A key goal for the international nuclear security community in the coming years is to further progress towards the universalization of the international legal instruments that provide the basis for nuclear security globally, notably the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material (CPPNM), its 2005 Amendment (A/CPPNM) and the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Terrorism (ICSANT) (frequently best accomplished with a single round of legislation). It is also a priority to increase the number of States that have made a political commitment to the Code of Conduct for the Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources (CoC) and its Supplementary Guidances.
