Objective

This project aims to assist the European Union on behalf of the Iraqi Ministry of Science and Technology MoST, to extend operational capabilities of the Iraqi Radioactive Waste Management System, providing instruments, tools and accessories that are essential for the completion of a stationary radio analytical laboratory. In addition, a mobile radiochemistry laboratory shall be delivered to enhance nuclear and other radioactive material’s detection capabilities, fast screening of RAW, qualitative and quantitative analysis of RAW in locations distanced apart from the Al-Tuwaitha site.

The objective of the project is the supply of the equipment – an agreed list of 42 items - to the Stationary Radiochemical Laboratory, accompanied by related services and the establishment of a Mobile Radiochemical Laboratory according to the Technical Specifications to ensure the characterization of radioactive waste, environmental monitoring, personnel monitoring, etc. under the Iraqi Decommissioning Program.
