Discovery and Development of New Natural Product-Based Biopesticides and Drug Candidates from Kazakhstan Flora

Project Status: 3 Approved without Funding
Duration in months: 36 months

Objective

The project is aimed to find new natural active substances for the development on their basis alternative pesticides (herbicides, insecticides and fungicides) and new plants with antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antitumor activities.

This study includes the following steps: harvesting of the plant material, drying, extraction, fractionation, isolation, structure identification, and confirmation of the effectiveness and subsequent development of biopesticides and human drugs based on natural products.

The potential benefits of such research are the detection of biologically active compounds from plants of Kazakhstan flora, the identification of new activities for industrial use in pest control and drug development. Furthermore, there may be discovered new properties of known substances which are used in the development of new drugs, both for agriculture and for medicine.
