Development of universal enzyme linked immunosorbent assay test systems for diagnosis of plague”

Project Status: 3 Approved without Funding
Duration in months: 24 months

Objective

Natural sites of plague occupy 41% of the territory of Kazakhstan. Fast and simple diagnosis of such disease as plague is important in Kazakhstan and in countries of the Central Asia. In vast majority of immunoenzymometric systems for identification of antibodies conjugates on the basis of antibodies against immunoglobulins are used. Such conjugates are specific and enable to identify antibodies only with one species of animals or a human being. Therefore such IFA test systems are not suitable for researches in natural sites of plague because there it is required to investigate serums of various species of animals and birds The purpose of this project is to develop a set of universal ELISA test systems for the detection of antibodies to the antigens of the capsule (fraction 1) and cell walls (LPS) of the plague pathogen in human serum and different species of animals in the material of the natural foci of plague. Staphylococcal protein A and streptococcal protein G interacting with Fc immunoglobulin fragments regardless of species identity will be used as conjugates. The developed set IFA test systems will be produced by the Production Department of KSCQZI and used by specialists of Plague Control Stations in the course of investigations of the natural sites of plague
