Tajikistan SIMI seismic station power restoration and station's maintenance

Objective

In 2016 near to Simiganch settlement in Tajikistan was created the Global Seismic Network (GSN) station coded SIMI. It was envisaged that the station will prove to be a significant asset both to operational seismic monitoring in the world and scientific researches in Tajikistan. Initially, station worked very good without any complaints. First interruptions in station work have been appeared in 2017 due to wetting the computer system installed in tunnel. Helping to IGEES personnel activity the computer system with digitizer were replaced to located near to tunnel small one-storey building.

In 2020 the interruptions in SIMI’s working has resumed and factually in the middle of year station stopped to function. In spite of carried on efforts regarding to put into operation the SIMI station near to end of year it was known that the main problem are the damages in Q300 digitizer and RPS-9 remote power spare due to problems with station’s power supply system.

At present power supply of station is provided time by time from station worker’s living house. Reliable permanent power supply of station is absent. For proving the normally functioning state of SIMI station it is needed to restore the power supply system. The restoration process is planned to take place in two Steps: 1. Rehabilitation the power line; and 2. Put into operation the transformer. In additional it is needed to provide necessary maintenance of station in working state both from local staff side located at station by daily inspection of working state of equipment and from Institute’s management side by regular visits to site (not more than onу time in every two weeks) for detail inspection of station and improving the revealed lacks.
