Visit of US- DOE Under Secretary for Nuclear Security and Administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
Mr Thomas D' Agostino visited ISTC on 9 June. During his visit an overview was given of NNSA's scientific engagement through ISTC. The results of various projects were presented along with discussion on new areas of common interest for possible cooperation. One such funded project relates to the development of a nuclear materials detector. Experiments with this low cost device are continuing with an eye towards further refinement for commercial application. At the same time during the meeting, other funding opportunities were discussed in view of the upcoming Governing Board meeting of ISTC to be held on 28 June 2011.
