The ISTC's Science Advisory Committee (SAC) and ISTC Working Group (WG) Meetings in Noordwijk
The ISTC Secretariat including Executive Director David Cleave, Deputy Executive Director Aidyn Turebaev, CFO, Sonya Vekstein and EU Senior Project Manager Philippe Geffroy took part in the Science Advisory Committee (SAC) and ISTC Working Group (WG) Meetings in Noordwijk, Netherlands between 11th to14th October 2022.
The location of Noordwijk was chosen as it is home to the European Space Agency (ESA / ESTEC) who are involved in ISTC Project on Transboundary Water and Land Monitoring in the Amu Darya basin using earth satellite monitoring and observation to monitor glacier ice meting due to climate change and the effect on river levels and contamination. The 2 day meetings at ESA enabled close hand discussions on the scientific and technical abilities of ESA earth observation to assist in ISTC projects, and in this particular instance how ESA can further assist in ISTC projects going forward.
In addition the ISTC Country Parties also met in Noordwijk for the 2 day ISTC Working Group to discuss ISTC's future strategic planning and road map as well as regular ISTC operational, budgetary, projects and activities and new country membership and outreach updates. The next meeting of the ISTC Governing Board is scheduled for 7th/8th December in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
