Signing of the Protocol between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Science and Technology Center on the new office of the ISTC Branch Office in the Kyrgyz Republic

BISHKEK, September 22, 2025 — The International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) is a leading source of international science funding in the Kyrgyz Republic. During years of ISTC activity in the Kyrgyz Republic, Kyrgyz scientists have prepared more than 300 project proposals, of which more than 110 have received funding totaling approximately $30 million USD.

Today, number of projects and targeted initiatives in the areas of biotechnology, medicine, seismic monitoring, safety, environmental pollution control — are being implemented in Kyrgyz Republic in collaboration with local organizations such as the Biotechnology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Protocol was signed on behalf of the Kyrgyz Government by the Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Baktyar Orozov, and on behalf of the ISTC by the Executive Director, Ms. Karina Anguelieva.

The relocation of the ISTC Branch Office in Kyrgyzstan to the principal building of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic is aimed at improving coordination between the Center and scientific organizations and higher educational institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic.
