Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the opening of the Energy Exploration Center in Accra, Ghana
On January 16, 2025 there will be a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the opening of the Energy Exploration Center in Accra, Ghana.
The Energy Exploration Center, a simulator of NuScale Power’s SMR control room funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Foundational Infrastructure for Responsible Use of Small Modular Reactor Technology (FIRST) Program, provides a hands-on facility to develop and train the next generation of nuclear operators and engineers in Sub-Saharan Africa.
In May 2024, ISTC signed a Memorandum of Understanding and contractual arrangements for provision of the NuScale Energy Exploration Center with the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission and NuScale Power. This is the first Energy Exploration Center on the African continent. See more here: https://www.istc.int/news/istc-and-the-ghana-atomic-energy-commission-signed-a-memorandum-of-understanding-mou
