Regional Authorities Meet at ISTC
Regional authorities from Smolensk (Russia) and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Germany) met together with representatives of the Petersburg Dialogue at a meeting coordinated by ISTC to discuss future forms of mutual cooperation.
Following the meeting, it was decided that ISTC would assist in bringing experts in the health sector from both regions together to discuss the increasing problems related to medicine becoming more and more multi-resistant against bacteria.
Representatives from ISTC gave an overview of the on-going work in this field, with particular reference to the implementation of an ISTC Targeted Initiatives on the Development of New Medicine. Both regions have universities and research centers active in this field.
Further detailed projects will be elaborated in early 2011. The Moscow meeting also discussed issues related to the management of hospitals, decommissioning of nuclear power plants and the introduction of alternative energy. At the end of the meeting, joint minutes were signed between the Regional Partners.
