article

On April 14, 2025, ISTC Executive Director Karina Anguelieva and Senior Project Manager Junko Ishikawa visited Japan's cutting-edge research institute, the National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST), and one of the leading private universities in Japan, Waseda University.

During their visit to QST, they were introduced to both R&D and medical treatment activities, including a tour of facilities such as the Heavy-ion Medical Accelerator and Radiation Emergency Medicine Center. This visit marked a significant milestone for ISTC as we prepare to launch a new project in collaboration with QST and the Sukhumi Institute of Physics and Technology in Georgia focused on developing a detector for radioactive materials.

At Waseda University, the delegation met with Prof. Yamamoto Tomoyuki, a collaborator on the ongoing ISTC project focused on developing eco-functional materials for next-generation solar cells by the Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. They emphasized the importance of sustaining the project's achievements to support the development of young Tajik researchers who represent the future of the country.
