ISTC supported 6 participants to the International Human Microbiome Consortium (IHMC) congress held in Kobe, Japan in November 2022.
The human microbiome is the aggregate of all microbiota living in or on the human body, which includes their genome information. The renowned scientists and researchers in the microbiome field from all over the world gathered in this 9th international congress which was held in Kobe, Japan from 8th to 10th of November 2022. In the congress, a lot of presentations and discussions were done on the complex human-microbiome relationship such as how the microbiome can influence the human health and clinical practices, as well as perspectives to the industrialization and so on.
ISTC financially supported the 6 researchers or stakeholders (2 from Kazakhstan and 1 each from Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan) participation in this congress in Japan. They also participated in the Board Meeting of IHMC in addition to the main body of this congress.
One researcher among these 6 participants said, “In this congress, we had valuable opportunities of meetings with Japanese scientists as well as the authors of global programs in the field of microbiome research. As a result of these discussions, we have identified key joint projects for the research teams from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan Georgia and Armenia. We have also strengthened collaborative relations and set goals for the coming year. At present, we are discussing with international partners including Japanese on the pilot study, which is planned to be implemented for next year, 2023”.
