ISTC Strengthens Cooperation with IAEA at the 70th General Conference
EVENT | ISTC at the 70th IAEA General Conference
The International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) was pleased to participate in the 70th IAEA General Conference in Vienna, where ISTC Executive Director Karina Anguelieva held a series of high-level meetings with senior leadership and colleagues of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The meetings provided an important opportunity to strengthen the institutional relationship between ISTC and the IAEA and to discuss practical areas for further cooperation.
Discussions focused on ISTC's evolving nuclear portfolio and areas of mutual interest, including:
- Strengthening cooperation between IAEA and ISTC
- Scientific and technical capacity building
- Small Modular Reactor (SMR) feasibility studies
• Radioactive waste management and water monitoring
Particular attention was given to ISTC's work in Central Asia and the potential for further cooperation in support of regional priorities in the peaceful uses of nuclear technology.
We were especially honoured to meet with Ms Margaret Doane, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Management, and Ms Najat Mokhtar, Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to DDG Doane and DDG Mokhtar for their warm hospitality and for the valuable time dedicated to our discussions.
Our thanks also go to Ms Aline Des Cloizeaux, Director of the Nuclear Power Division, and Ms Olena Mykonaichuk, Director of the Division of Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Waste Technology, for their kind engagement and constructive discussions on areas of mutual interest.
We greatly value the openness and constructive spirit of our discussions with IAEA colleagues and look forward to continuing the dialogue and developing concrete opportunities for cooperation in the coming months.
For ISTC, strong cooperation with the IAEA remains an important element of our efforts to support science, technology and capacity building in Central Asia and beyond.
