Master trainers from the Chemical Safety Group of PRECA project successfully conducted a two-day national training event on chemical safety and the role of poisons information centers. The training took place on 17 – 18 July 2023, in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The event brought together 21 trainees representing various institutions, including the Ministry of Emergency of Kazakhstan, public hospitals of Astana, and the city emergency station. Their active involvement demonstrated their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens during critical situations.

The primary objectives of the training were to enhance participants' understanding of chemical safety protocols and strategies during mass gatherings, as well as to foster a comprehensive discussion on the pivotal functions of poisons information centers in managing and responding to potential poisoning incidents.

During the training days, special attention was given to TOXBASE, the poisons information database from the United Kingdom. Participants were presented with its features, functionality, and best practices for utilizing such resources to provide accurate and timely advice during poisoning emergencies.
