Today ISTC launched its pavilion at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

The ISTC pavilion, covering 9 square meters, is an interactive space where visitors can explore the organization’s work. The pavilion's theme is “Crossroads Between Science & Security. Through engaging presentations, visitors will gain insights into ISTC’s activities and role in creating peaceful multilateral science and technology collaboration for a safer, more secure, and sustainable world. Aligned with the EXPO theme “Lives” and “Future”, the ISTC pavilion showcases 12 projects in the categories of Disaster Risk Management, Clean Energy, Good Health & Well-Being, and Safe and Secure Society. These projects highlight contributions to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The exhibition will last from April 13 to October 13, 2025.

A significant moment for ISTC at EXPO 2025 will be ISTC Special Day on August 27. Karina Anguelieva, ISTC Executive Director, stated: “With 160 countries and seven international organizations coming together for this global event, ISTC is proud to be among contributors. The ISTC pavilion at EXPO 2025 marks a milestone for our organization, showcasing our mission and global impact. It highlights ISTC’s role in supporting innovation and addressing global security challenges. Through interactive presentations and engaging content, visitors will gain a deeper understanding of our work and its significance on a global scale. I am deeply grateful to everyone whose dedication and effort made this project a reality. And I am very thankful to the Japanese government who supported us in this journey.”

World EXPO 2025 will take place on Yumeshima, an artificial island in Osaka Bay, serving as a global platform for innovation and collaboration. EXPOs are designed to unite people and ideas to address humanity’s most crucial challenges. Building on the legacy of past Japanese EXPOs, such as Osaka EXPO 1970 and Aichi EXPO 2005, EXPO 2025 will contribute to global progress by accelerating solutions aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These 17 goals provide a pathway for a better and more sustainable future, addressing issues such as climate change, global health, clean energy, and scientific innovation. EXPO 2025 in Osaka will encourage communication and technological exchange to drive impactful solutions that help achieve these objectives.

Under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” EXPO 2025 is structured around three core subthemes: “Saving Lives,” “Empowering Lives,” and “Connecting Lives.” These concepts reflect the event’s mission to create a better future through innovation and cooperation. The “Saving Lives” subtheme is particularly aligned with ISTC’s mission, as the organization is dedicated to enhancing global security, supporting scientific research, and advancing technologies that protect lives worldwide. By participating in EXPO 2025, ISTC maintains its role in shaping a safer and more sustainable world.
