On 1 August 2023 David Cleave, ISTC Executive Director and Aidyn Turebayev, ISTC’s transiting Deputy Executive Director visited Astana IT University.

Astana IT University’s delegation warmly welcomed International Science and Technology Center and gave a short brief about Astana IT University. The University was presented by Omirbayev Serik Maulenovich, Acting Rector, Andrii Biloshchytskyi, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, Nurkhat Zhakiyev, Head of the Science and Innovation Department, and Aleksandr Nefftisov, Head or research center Industry 4.0.

The IT University Acting Rector and team, presented the University and it's programs and projects and in return ISTC Executive Director presented ISTC and then a discussion took place on mutual interests and technology usage in water monitoring, climate change, cyber-security, earth satellite monitoring on which ISTC has several current projects interests. 

During a meeting Mr. Cleave and Mr. Turebayev awarded two travel grants to the representatives from the Astana IT University. Nurkhat Zhakiyev, Head of the Science and Innovation Department and Andrii Biloshchytskyi, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation who will be visiting World Smart Energy Week in Osaka, Japan on 15-17 November and presenting and exhibiting their projects at the Forum.

These 2 travel grants for visiting the World Smart Energy Week in Osaka, Japan on November 15-17 2023, are 2 of 4 with the other grants going to 2 specialists from Uzbekistan. The grants are both supported and funding by ISTC's Japan Party. In addition the ISTC Japan Party has funded more 3 travel grants to specialists for the Annual STS Forum in Kyoto Japan on 30 September to 3 October 2023 (1 each for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan & Georgia), & Bio Japan Exhibition Forum, in Yokohama, Japan on 15-17 November 2023 supporting 2 grants for Kyrgyzstan, and 2 grants for Tajikistan.

Mr. Omirbayev, Acting Rector expressed his gratitude and thanked ISTC for giving opportunities for Astana IT University towards furthering new knowledge and strengthening its business connections. 

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue work to further strengthen relations, including in the field of innovation and technological development and also both sides agreed to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation in this respect.
