On 3 April 2018 ISTC Executive Director David Cleave met with Mr. Talgat Narikbayev, the Rector of KAZGUU University, and members of the leadership and the faculty of the University. The interlocutors discussed the joint organization of a discussion at the Academic Diplomatic Club, related to the ISTC – implemented projects in the field of nuclear safety and nonproliferation.

They also expressed satisfaction over the record and the prospects of the bilateral cooperation. KAZGUU intends to continue its active participation in the EU – funded Project Export Control on Dual Use Materials and Technologies in Central Asia and the upcoming seminar on that theme in Astana, on 24-25 May 2018.

In its turn, the KAZGUU Higher School of Economics invited ISTC to take part in the 3rd Annual Conference on Academic Integrity with the focus on Internationalization to be held at KAZGUU University, on 18-19 May 2018. The Conference aims to share best practices, raise issues, and promote and discuss recent developments in theoretical and empirical research on academic integrity.

Other participants in the ISTC – KAZGUU meeting included: Dr. Renata Faizova, Director of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and International Relations; Prof. Dr. Dilbar Gimranova, Dean of the Higher School of Economics; Dr. Galym Makhmejanov, Director, Qazaq Institute for Development Studies

And Dr. Ikboljon Qoraboyev, Senior Lecturer in International Relations at QIDS; as well as ISTC Deputy Executive Director Aidyn Turebayev, and Dr. Kamen Velichkov, Senior Program Manager and Diplomatic Advisor.
