ISTC Hosts an International Seminar on Nuclear Energy and Nonproliferation Issues

On June 23, the international seminar “Nuclear Energy and the Development of Nonproliferation Culture: Covering New Regions” took place at ISTC premises. The event was organized by the Russian Center for Policy Studies (PIR Center) and supported by ISTC. The opening remarks were given by the PIR Center President, Vladimir Orlov and ISTC Executive Director, Adriaan van der Meer.

“ISTC is ready and able to immediately contribute to scientific and nonproliferation challenges of the 21st century. Our 16 year experience of project management on the ground makes us a valuable tool to implement various multilateral initiatives leading to greater global security”, stated van der Meer. An overview of the ISTC responsible management program to increase scientists' awareness was also presented to participants.

The Russian Center for Policy Studies is an independent nongovernmental organization, which carries out research, educational public awareness programs, publishing activities, as well as offering consulting services. From its founding in April 1994, the priority areas of the Center's research studies have remained focused on international security, and control and nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
