As part of getting acquainted with the ISTC Branches in Central Asia and Caucases, ISTC Executive Director Karina Anguelieva visited Dushanbe, Tajikistan during February 26-27, 2025. The meetings were organised with a help of Azizakhon Haidarova, Branch Manager of ISTC, Republic of Tajikistan. 

During the official visit of the ISTC Executive Director Karina Anguelieva and Senior Programme Manager Philippe Geffroy, a meeting was held between Nasredin Ismatullo, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, where both sides discussed current state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of science and technology as well as interaction within international organizations and other issues of mutual interest.

Also Ms. Anguelieva and Mr. Geffroy held a fruitful meeting with the President of the Tajikistan National Academy of Sciences (TNAS) Professor Khushvakhtzoda Qobiljon Khushvakht. During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening cooperation in the field of technology, scientific research and training of highly qualified scientific personnel in the field of natural, exact and mathematical sciences.  At the meeting it was noted that within the framework of cooperation in the future, it is possible to hold international conferences and among scientists of the Tajikistan National Academy of Sciences and other parties.

In addition to the meetings, Ms. Anguelieva and Mr. Geffroy visited the Regional Center for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency and met with Professor Ilkhom Mirsaidzoda. During the visit, Ms. Anguelieva and Mr. Geffroy got acquainted with modern technologies and equipment that were received within the framework of ISTC projects. During the meeting parties also discussed the prospects for further cooperation, including joint research, exchange of experience, and the use of advanced technologies in science and production.
