ISTC congratulates Professor Alexei Removich Khokhlov on receiving Russia’s highest decoration from President Medvedev

On 12 June, Alexei Removich Khokhlov, Professor at the Moscow State University and Head of Laboratory at the Laboratory of Chemical Physics, received Russia’s most prestigious award from President Dmitry Medvedev. The Russian National Awardis given to outstanding people working in the areas of science and culture who are contributing to the country’s achievement. 

President Medvedev underlined the innovative work of Professor Khokhlov in the field of polymer physics. “A national award has been awarded to Alexei Removich Khokhlov, one of the world's leading scientists in the field of polymers. He developed a fundamental theory in the field of polymer systems, which created a new direction of polymer physics. And this is only one of his multifaceted and fruitful activities. He has contributed to unique durable and biocompatible plastics and catalysts for production of vitamins, and polymer liquids for oil extraction." 

Mr. Khokhlov received the prestigious prize alongside other scientists and artists such as the internationally renowned mathematician Vladimir Igorevich Arnold, the linguist Andrei Anatolyevich Zaliznyak, the actress Alisa Brunovna Freindlikh and the sculptor Andrei Nikolaevich Kovalchuk. The previous French President Jacques Chirac also received the honors for his “great personal contribution to integration processes in Europe and the development of Russian-French relations”. 

Professor Khokhlov is currently involved as project manager on the ISTC project 3792, Mechanisms for Enhancing Proton Conductivity of Modified Hydrocarbon Copolymers: a Theoretical Study. The ISTC congratulates Professor Khokhlov on his award and wishes him further success in his research work.
