ISTC conducted the 77th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting

ISTC convened the 77th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) on October 22 in Brussels, Belgium. The SAC discussed ISTC activities, reviewed 2024 project proposals and addressed the ISTC Strategic Plan Roadmap. The SAC Chairman, Dr. Tai Asayama, of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency, made opening remarks.

ISTC Executive Director David Cleave led discussions about the Strategic Plan Roadmap, which included an examination of current ISTC projects and partners. Existing projects were evaluated with an emphasis on concrete metrics and results as well as lessons learned for the future and project recommendations. Mr. Cleave also coordinated discussions about emerging trends in scientific research.

To remind, SAC is ISTC’s Scientific Advisory Committee that determines and selects the best scientific projects each year. As a results scientists receive sponsorship for their projects. SAC members include Tai Asayama, Japan Atomic Energy Agency (Japan), Maurice Leroy, University of Strasbourg (EU), Nigel Lightfoot, EC DEVCO (EU), Madina Tungatarova, Satbayev University (Kazakhstan), Young-Ouk Lee, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (South Korea), Jean Muylaert, Senior Officer for the development of the European Space Agency (EU).
