ISTC carries out a Workshop on Export Control for Kyrgyz Customs Officials
The second Workshop for Kyrgyz Customs officials on Export Control and Dual-Use Goods Identification was held in Bishkek on 26-28 May 2021. This Workshop, like the previous one, which took place on April 28-30 this year, was organized by the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) together with the Center on Export Controls (Bishkek) within the framework of the targeted initiative on the export control of CBRN dual-use materials and technologies, funded by the EU.
The last Workshop took place in an online format and was attended by European and Ukrainian experts. The Workshop covered issues related to the goals and principles of export control, the main functions of the customs service in the sphere of export control, licensing in the sphere of export control, lists of controlled goods and technologies, identification of controlled goods and technologies, functions of state agencies in the sphere of export control, and their interaction, and counterproliferation of WMD for customs services.
Implementation of these Workshops on Export Control issues will allow the country to strengthen its control system for sensitive transfers and minimize the risks of violations of export control legislation. It will also raise the awareness of customs officials in the field of nonproliferation, protection, and management of modern security threats
