Government of Japan sponsored delegations from Kazakhstan and Armenia to join BioJapan exhibition
ISTC supported attendance of four science professionals at BioJapan-2024 from October 9 through 11 in Yokohama, Japan. BioJapan, launched in 1986, is the world’s oldest biotechnology exposition and is the foundation of the biotechnology industry by providing a platform for innovation and collaboration in domestic and international biotechnology.
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Associate Professors Aknur Turgumbayeva and Dinara Satmbekova’s and Avetis Tsaturyan and Viven Goginyan of the Armenia National Academy of Sciences’ Armbiotechnology Scientific and Production Center engaged in scientific research discussion and presentation and exhibition of plants and biotechnological products unique to their research and development.
Professors Turgumbayeva and Satmbekova operated an information and presentation booth at BioJapan-2024. Professor Turgumbayeva presented research addressing development of drugs based on raw materials in safflower. Safflower is an annual plant, one of the world’s oldest crops and is cultivated for vegetable oil, among other uses. Professor Turgumbayeva also presented the plant to BioJapan-2024 participants as a source of oils and antioxidants that can be used in medical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. In addition to her presentations, Professor Satmbekova networked with BioJapan-2024 booths where forum participants – and possible future partners – work in drug development and preclinical and clinical studies. The professors reported more than 100 participants visited their booth.
Mr. Tsaturyan and Mr. Goginyan of the Armenia National Academy of Sciences’ (NAS) Armbiotechnology Scientific and Production Center joined representatives of 15 for-profit and nonprofit organizations to demonstrate and advertise biotechnological products; highlight achievements in biotechnology; identify sales markets for biotechnological products; identify opportunities for long-term agreements and contracts in scientific research; and, discuss logistics and legal issues associated with the export and import of biotechnological products and technologies. Mr. Tsatyuran and Mr. Goginyan exhibited Armbiotechnology products, including food supplements, acid milk products, plant oils, tinctures and biofertilizers.
BioJapan-2024’s objectives are to promote innovation; facilitate exchanges of cutting-edge knowledge and technology; nurture government, industrial and academic partnerships; and the growth and industrialization of new biotechnological solutions. Booths from government organizations, businesses and academic institutions facilitated direct communication and networking among participants. Approximately 200 seminars were conducted at BioJapan-2024, featuring industry leaders and researchers and addressing emerging technologies, trends and challenges in the biotechnology sector.
BioJapan 2024 offered dedicated networking and opportunities to establish strategic contacts and business alliances. Social events facilitated interaction and the exchange of ideas among participants.
ISTC is honored to support the work of Professors Turgumbayeva and Satmbekova and Mr. Tsatyuran and Mr. Goginyan at BioJapn-2024, a time-honored tradition that contributes to scientific development and innovation. The programs were sponsored by the Government of Japan with an administrative help of ISTC.
