G-2312 Meeting at Georgia and Kutaisi on September 18 – 20, 2019
On September 18-21, 2019, collaborator of the project G-2312, Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the University of Georgia, Professor Frederick Quinn, visited the project together with SPM from ISTC G-2312, Torikoshi.
During the visit, meetings were held with project participants and scientists interested in the topic tuberculosis.
The first visit on September 18 took place in the Lugar Laboratory of NCDC where the guests had tour in the lab. Sub-manager of the project Dr. Ekaterine Zangaladze had discussion about the experimental issues and progress of the project was conducted.
Meeting with Prof. Levan Makaradze, head of the pathohistological group; with Prof. Besarion Lasareishvili, head of the veterinary department of the university, discussion about prospects for future cooperation was very interesting.
September 19 Visiting the National Food Agency of Georgia, where Prof. Frederick Quinn presented open lecture titled "Mycobacterium bovis Infection and its Health Burden".
The lecture was chaired by Prof. Demna Khelaia, Head of Veterinary Department of Georgia; the veterinary doctors from the regional slaughterhouses and other interested specialists was attended the lecture. It was very interesting with open discussions and questions lasted for about 3 hours. The participants get the certificates signed by Prof. Frederick Quinn.
On September 20, Visiting NCDC branch laboratory in Kutaisi, Georgia which is specialized in the TB research and engaged in microbiological research process.
Visiting Kutaisi TB hospital in the west regions of country, we discussed about prospects of the bilateral cooperation For extension collaboration of the project the team of the project.
