EU CBRN Centre of Excellence hosted a training in UAE on CBRN emergency medical response

article

To improve CBRN emergency medical response in the UAE, the General Directorate of Civil Defence Ajman hosted a 3-day CBRN Emergency Medicine training course supported by the EU CBRN Centre of Excellence. Around 25 doctors, nurses and paramedics from UAE attended 2 days of theory training and one day of practical exercises to learn how to better protect their patients and themselves in a CBRN environment.

CBRN materials are essential in sectors like manufacturing industries, healthcare and energy, but they also pose serious risks if not managed properly. The possibility of CBRN exposure during emergencies makes strengthening CBRN emergency medicine response capabilities vital for public health.

The course is part of the P82 project, funded by the EU’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CBRN CoE). P82 aims to strengthen CBRN emergency medicine preparedness and response throughout the Gulf region through theoretical education and practical training and exercises. The project, active since 2019, supports all Gulf countries in improving their CBRN public health preparedness and response capabilities.
