article

On 20-24 September 2021 5th Summer School was held in Almaty on the basis of the Institute of Nuclear Physics. It was conducted the framework of the III International Scientific Forum "Nuclear Science and Technology", a roadmap for the implementation of measures of the international agreement on scientific cooperation between Kazakhstan and European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) approved by the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The school took place thanks to the financial support of the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) and Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR).

This year, more than 50 young scientists took part in the work of the school, representing Republic of Kazakhstan, Russian Federation, Republic of Uzbekistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan.

More than fifteen leading experts from international nuclear centers and the CIS countries were invited to deliver lectures. Among them were 5 scientists presented results achive in projects funded by ISTC. School participants listened to 29 lectures-reports: on High Energy Physics and the prospects for the development of the Large Hadron Colider, on the use of the capabilities of nuclear physics and accelerator technology in medicine, computers and big data, on the search for physics beyond the standard model, on quantum chromodynamics, from fundamental foundations to practical applications.

Summer School participants visited a virtual tour to CERN - CMS Virtual Visit from Kazakhstan and experimental facilities of INP ME RK.

A distinctive feature of this school was the oral and poster presentations of the summer school participants in breakout sessions. In total, over 40 oral and poster presentations were presented by young specialists. As a result of this school, young scientists were awarded 48 certificates.

Since 2010, with the financial support of the ISTC and JINR, four Summer Schools on High Energy Physics and Accelerator Technology have been successfully held.
