The Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balagyn (KNU) in cooperation with the and the Center for Export Control (CEC) and the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) with the support of the European Union, is organizing a Course on Export Control followed by a Master's Program on Strategic Trade Control at the Department of "Law and Customs" of the Faculty of Law.

The implementation of the course and Master program on Strategic Trade Control will allow the country to strengthen the  control system over dual use and sensitive goods and technologies transfers and minimize the risks of violation of legislation in the field of export control. Also, this will increase the awareness of customs officers, company employees and government officials on export control issues.

In this context, on June 28-29, 2021 will take place a Workshop for KNU professors, government officials, export control experts, representatives of the business community and other higher education institutions in the country. The objective of this event is to present  the academic program on Strategic Trade Control and the core topics of this specific field, together with colleagues from the Central Asian Institute for Development Studies (CAIDS) who are responsible for the Kazakh academic program at the Eurasian National University.

Given that Kazakhstan is already working on the implementation of a similar academic program on STC, the project is being developed in collaboration with faculty and researchers from the Gumilev Eurasian National University (ENU) and CAIDS.

The aim of this activity is:

- To make aware government officials, export control experts, representatives of the business community and other higher education institutions of the country about the creation of the EC Master course

- To  share experiences and ideas with professors and experts from the European Union and Kazakhstan

- To provide an opportunity for professors from KNU and other universities, as well as EC experts, to learn about current topics under debate and relevant concepts in STC.
