UK-Russia Space Research and Satellite Communication Seminar
To encourage Space Science research links between the UK and Russia, ISTC is supporting a group of leading Russian space scientists to meet with their UK counterparts in London 29 June to the 2nd July 2010. Three days of working sessions have been co-organized with University College London (UCL), including one day at the prestigious UCL Mullard Space Science Laboratory (MSSL) in Surrey.
The purpose of the visit is to foster new research relationships between the UK and Russia, and to provide additional support to committed projects which may result. The British Embassy in Moscow has given full support to the visit. On 10 June, the UK launched “Yuri Gagarin 50” at the Houses of Parliament in London announcing that throughout 2011, the UK will hold a full year of events and exhibitions, including a long-term exhibition at the UK Science Museum, to mark the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight into space.
The three-day ISTC and UCL Seminar will include presentations by Russian Scientists on Space Medicine, Satellite Communication Technologies, Optics & Instrument Systems, Monitoring and Natural Disasters, Robotics & Cybernetics and Microgravitation.
