ISTC-STCU Promote Broader Collaboration with the European Union

The International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) and its Ukrainian 'sister' organization, the Science and Technology Center in Ukraine (STCU), jointly organized the workshop Thematic International Conference on Bio-, Nano- and Space Technologies, EU and Science Centers Collaboration, in Ljubljana, in the frame of the Slovenian presidency of the European Union. The event was hosted by the institute Josef Stefan, the biggest research center in Slovenia.

ISTC supported the attendance of 16 senior scientists from Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia and Tajikistan to give presentations on the latest scientific developments in their countries. The European Commissioner, Janez Potocnik, attended the plenary session of the conference. 

The Workshop was aimed at broadening scientific and technological cooperation between the EU and Russia and other countries of the CIS. It was a step towards finding new partners and developing research projects in the fields of nanotechnology, biotechnology and space technology.

In the second half of 2008, ISTC and STCU will organize a promotional event in Paris in the frame of the French Presidency of the EU. Exact dates are still to be determined.
