The Organizing Committee of the BTEP/ISTC/STCU/NIH Forum on “Research Sustainability” would like to inform you about this upcoming scientific event.

The BTEP is a US State Department (DOS)-US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Program designed to engage scientists from the Newly Independent States (NIS) and the US in collaborative research projects in global health priority areas. The Forum is an opportunity to share the scientific information on BTEP projects that have a potential for self-sufficient programs as commercial products or are suitable for further academic support; promote strategies for long-term public-private partnerships in developing new diagnostic, treatment, and prevention products; provide information on technology transfer within the US and NIS; and identify additional resources and funding to sustain new and current collaborations or initiatives.

We have 50 confirmed participants who are BTEP investigators, government research managers, consultants in product development and public-private partnerships from the US and the NIS.

If you are interested in submitting an Abstract, it will be reviewed and considered for oral or poster presentation. Please attach completed abstract in your E-mail to Dr. Gremyakova, gremyakova@istc.ru (See the Abstract format below).

ISTC will provide full travel support (e.g., economy airfare, ground transportation, per diem, lodging) to BTEP investigators whose abstracts are accepted for oral or poster presentation. Invitations are being extended to Principal Investigators of BTEP/ISTC biomedical and health research projects that are nearing completion and/or are in the process of developing a product with commercial potential.

Biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and foundation representatives are required to register and attend at their own expense.

Requests for registration from non-BTEP participants should be directed to: William Rosa,rosawi@niaid.nih.gov. Deadline for Registration is August 7, 2009
