GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GmbH and the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) would like to invite you to participate in the Young Scientists School 2011, dedicated to “Ultra-High Intensity Light Science and Applications”. The School will be held from October 10 through 15 October at GSI, Darmstadt, Germany.
Students, post-graduates and post-doctorates under 35, focusing on Ultra-High Intensity Light Science and Applications, are invited to participate at the Young Scientists School. Particularly,
we encouraged students and young scientists engaged in research related to the subject of the School.
In addition to the lectured sessions the program of the School will include a special section for presentations by the School participants and a contest for the best presentation. Special certificates and prizes will be awarded to the winners of the contest.
Selection of the School candidates will be based on the analysis of their research activity and abstracts of presentations submitted by the applicants. For this purpose, in addition to personal data and abstracts of presentations, applicants are invited to indicate in their registration forms short summaries describing their educational and research priorities.
The ISTC will provide financial support to participants from Russia /CIS and Georgia, including reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs for the period of the School.
The working language will be English.
Key topics of the program:
High energy laser - plasma physics
Non-linear optics in the relativistic regime
Quantum electrodynamics in super-strong fields
Absorption of intense laser radiation
Advanced laser-plasma particle acceleration
Relativistic nanoplasmonics
Towards exawatt laser power
Intense laser and particle beams
The Russian megajoule laser facility
We hope that these topics are of interest to you and look forward to seeing you at the Joint ISTC–GSI Young Scientists School 2011 “Ultra-High Intensity Light Science and Applications”.
