Conference “Bioinformatics Tools and Techniques for Allergy and Infectious Disease Research”, June 7 to 9, 2010, Moscow

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a component of the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH), in collaboration with the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) sponsored its first joint conference on Bioinformatics Tools and Techniques for Allergy and Infectious Disease Research held in Moscow, June 7 to 9, 2010. The conference consists in three days of scientific exchange and discussions on collaboration opportunities between NIAID and research institutions of the Russian Federation and Former Soviet Union countries.
Purpose: The conference focuses on bioinformatics and medical and clinical informatics research topics as they relate to allergy and infectious diseases. The purpose of the conference is to showcase the initiatives of each organization and identify touch points for future scientific collaborations.

Meeting Format: The conference consists of a single track with oral and poster presentations and closes with a round table discussion that enables participants to share their collaborative experiences and identify and discuss mutual areas of interest. The goals of the round table discussion are to foster more effective communications between the NIAID and the conference participants and to provide participants with an opportunity to discuss novel research initiatives and collaborations with the NIAID.
