2011 International Environmental Forensics Workshop - Tbilisi, Georgia, September 12-16
On the initiative of the Canadian Party the ISTC (International Science & Technology Center) together with STCU (Science and Technology Center in Ukraine) is organizing the International Environmental Forensics Workshop, to be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, on September 12-16, 2011.
Environmental law is a key component to ensure ecological safety of the population, environmental protection, conservation of natural resources in different countries and sustainable development of civilization in general.
On the other hand, efficient enforcement of such laws largely relies on existing methods and technical means of environment and biota monitoring and on the precision of measurements.
As a rule, meetings and conferences on environmental law and events of scientific and applied character are held independently. The proposed meeting implies a combined approach to discussions on both topics.
The purpose of this workshop is to bring together scholars, regulators and consultants practicing in the field of environmental forensics to share their research findings and observations in an open and corroborative setting. A focus of this conference is the emphasis on sharing scientific techniques available to identify contaminant sources, age and entity responsible for the releases, regardless of the contaminant (dioxin/furans, chlorinated solvents, metals, petroleum hydrocarbons), media (soil, groundwater, surface water, atmosphere, soil gas, sediments).
Main Technical Sessions of the Workshop:
Environmental Law
Characterization of Environmental Pollutants
Environmental Monitoring and Impact of Contaminants
