«Hospital Infections - Epidemiology, Diagnostics, Management», 30 November, Moscow
The Petersburg Dialogue, a Forum for civil society development, and ISTC organized the International Conference «Hospital Infections - Epidemiology, Diagnostics, Management», on 30 November in Moscow.
In the last decades intrahospital infections have become an increasingly significant problem for public health. In economically developed countries they affect 5-10 % of patients. These infections complicate the treatment of the main disease, threaten the patients’ life and increase the overall costs.
The emergence of these infections are related to the appearance of «hospital strains» of microorganisms that have high virulence and multiple drug resistance, partly due to irrational antimicrobial chemotherapy and the lack of control over the circulation of drug resistant strains.
We observe an increase in the transportation of pathogenic microflora among the medical personnel (it reaches 40 %). Moreover, the creation of large hospital complexes with specific environment such as overcrowding, often weakened patients, inadequate isolation of premises (hospital room, procedural unit etc.), as well as violation of hygiene rules by the personnel aggravate the problem even more.
Main directions of the Conference’s scientific program:
1 Epidemiology of intrahospital infections
2. Improvement of diagnostics methods of hospital infections’ agents.
3. Management of resistance formation towards medical preparations in clinical establishments.
