Third Annual Canadian Biosafety Symposium
31 May - 03 Jun 2009 - The third Annual Canadian Biosafety Symposium was held in Halifax, Nova Scotia. ISTC financially supported the participation of 12 scientists from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. Over 130 participants attended the symposium.
The Canadian Biosafety Symposium featured presentations and posters on an array of biosafety topics, including containment facilities design, maintenance and equipment; laboratory management and operations; animal containment; biosecurity; and, infectious diseases affecting human and animals. It was an opportunity for these Former Soviet Union experts on biosafety to learn and share knowledge with colleagues from Canada and other countries.
The International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) is an intergovernmental organization connecting scientists from Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Georgia with their peers and research organizations in the EU, Japan, Republic of Korea, Norway and the United States.
ISTC facilitates international science projects and assists the global scientific and business community to source and engage with CIS and Georgian institutes that develop or possess an excellence of scientific know-how.
