Project summary

The aim of the project is evaluation of potential probiotic properties of lacto- and bifido-bacteria autostrains and to construct a biosupplement preparation for persons staying in artificially self-contained ecosystems.

The project prepared in the frame of ISTC Targeted Initiative “Probiotics and Health”.

Increasing of space flight duration and tendency of their automation determine necessity of developing new and effective biological additives riched with probiotics for securing in time of cosmic flight normal vital functions of organism and hight functional activity of cosmonauts. Deficit of bifidobateries and lactobacteries, fixed by studing of microflora of crew members as well as dramatic decrease of lactobacilli concentration in urinary tract, pharynx and periodontium leads to development of deseases connected with dysbacteriosis formation in humans. To prevent development of disbacteriosis of humans in confined habitat the commercial nutrient additives are used enriched by probiotics (thus trying to solver the problems using commercial probiotic preparates). This way, together with observed positive effect the cases are described without improvement of occurred pathological state for the people of extreme occupations – cosmonauts, sailors, saturation pers, etc. Despite of special selection of microbes in bioadditives (lacto- and bifidocacteria etc.) which are in human microbiocenosis, their application can not completely restore content of residential microflora of healthy people different patterns of mucouse, which formed previously under conditions of nutrient peculiarities, region of habitance, including inpidual peculiarities of organism. Solution of this problem is connected with colonizing of treated biotope by autostrains of probiotic microbes.

In IBMP RAS the investigations of healthy people intestinal microflora in extreme conditions are constantly performed, the strain collection is formed. For instance, during exploration of orbital stations “Salyut” and “Mir” the investigations were carried out, connected with forming of personalized collection of strains – representatives of cosmonauts microflora. Number of archived cultures – 1246.

During fulfillment of proposed project there will be created bioadditives made of auto-strains for personal use.

Application of such personal “astobioadditives” will be targeted to obtain sour milk products for functional nutrition in absence of gravity in long-term flights, as well as for personal treatment of patients, suffered from disbacterioses, especially for new bourn kids, basing on mothers auto-strains.
