Project summary

The purpose of the project – creation of system of the operative control of epizootic conditions on the tuberculosis and brucellosis in territory of Republic Kazakhstan, development of the complex of diagnostic and treatment-and-prophylactic preparations.

Source of danger of a food origin can be environment and new technologies. The going pollution of foodstuff, including bioterrorism, represents one of kinds of the general potential risks which can have local, regional or global character. Measures of the prevention and reciprocal actions are complex, get various forms and assume necessity of the all-round approach.

The data about pathogens, found out in food stuffs, it is necessary to unite with the data on flashes of illnesses, the data on illnesses of the person and the data on illnesses of animals and to use them for drawing up of a full picture about animals - carriers of the activator of an infection, the products being carriers, and pathogens, representing health hazard of the person. The information received due to the program of monitoring and supervision forms a basis for decision-making on carrying out of an estimation of risk and is help for programs of the control and preventive maintenance.

The Republic of Kazakhstan is one of few countries of the world where animal industries, in particular, sheep breeding, horse breeding, camel breeding and cattle breeding, has the important social and economic value, is one of unique and highly remunerative branches of an agriculture, it carry to number of perspective directions in Republic. The meat-and-milk raw material, products of primary and secondary processing can be for Republic objects of export on the international market. However, mass migratory processes, deterioration of ecological and sanitary-and-epidemiologic conditions, decrease in efficiency of monitoring and against epidemic actions are factors menacing to biological safety in Kazakhstan and worldwide.

Despite of the wide market of preparations for preventive maintenance and therapies of infectious diseases at the person, practically are not present complex effective veterinary preparations for preventive maintenance and therapy of animals in which versatile influences - sorption, prebiotic, probiotic property and immune rehabilitation would be combined with the maximal advantage and practical absence of risk for an organism, the big efficiency that makes their application by the most attractive from economic positions.

In this connection, carrying out of researches on development of effective system of epidemiological supervision of illnesses of animals, by illnesses of a food origin, monitoring behind potential pollution of available foodstuff and creation of the preparations directed on the warning and preventive maintenance as dangerous infectious diseases directly of the person, animals and birds, and the illnesses transmitted by food an animal origin is represented pertinent.

In the offered project will solve the following tasks:


Task 1. The epizootic and microbiological analyze of brucellosis and tuberculosis on region in Kazakhstan.
Task 2. The State Collections of pathogens and microbes - antagonists. Maintenance and supply with information.
Task 3. The monitoring and diagnostics systems of brucellosis and tuberculosis on the food chain (animals – raw material - food stuffs).
Task 4. Study of the role of antimicrobial peptides and enzymes (from bacteria and fungi) for the prevention Brucella and Mycobacterium in animals, meat and milk.

Expected results and their application

Will be developed:

  • the protocol of the operative control and bacteriological monitoring of brucellosis and tuberculosis in Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • the recommendations on carrying out of anti-epizootic actions at animal’s brucellosis and tuberculosis.

Genetic certification of genome of collection strains activators of especially dangerous infections - Brucella and Mycobacterium, bacteria-antagonists (with use of methods RT-PCR) will be carried out. Genetic maps of genome of these activators species are made and the bank of genes and electronic information base of collection cultures of microorganisms is generated.

Tests - systems with high sensitivity and specificity (differentiations of strains, samples), allowing to carry out direct definition of a genetic material especially dangerous pathogens in any clinical samples and objects of an environment will be developed. Also the opportunity of carrying out of researches at a molecular level will be given, that considerably simplifies and accelerates identification of microorganisms.

The model of protection and safety storage of microorganisms-pathogens for animals in Collection will be developed. It will allow to completely preventing of threat of distribution of pathogenic agents of a bacterial origin for limits of storehouse.

For the prevention of development Brucella and Mycobacterium in animals, meat and milk the role of antimicrobial peptides and enzymes (from bacteria and fungi) will be investigated. Our previous experiences in vitro have shown, that peptides in preparation, separated from cells of lactobacilli stably show bactericidal action concerning various strains Salmonella sp, E. coli, Staphylococcus sp.

Will be investigated action of a preparation on the expanded spectrum of pathogens: Brucella, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, etc. Will be investigated molecular and amino-acid structure of peptides. Sites of genome, responsible for synthesis antimicrobial peptides will be determined. It will allow stabilizing antagonistic properties of cultures – producers of peptides.

The antimicrobial and immune-modulating mechanism of action of peptides and enzymes and their medicinal forms concerning decrease in colonization of animals’ organism by cells Brucella and Mycobacterium will be investigated.

Development of the protocol of the operative control of brucellosis and tuberculosis will bring in the contribution to system of biological safety of Republic Kazakhstan.

The project will sustain fundamental and applied researches; develop biotechnologies to meet needs of people, i. e. it will achieve goals stated by the Science and Technology Center.
