Project summaryThe Project is connected with development and Improvement of physical and mathematical models of the processes concerning underground and underwater nuclear explosions. The aim of the project Is to develop the Software for analysis of dynamics and quazistatic properties of decamouflage factors of unsanctioned nuclear tests.
As well known the main decamouflage factors of an undergro-und or underwater nuclear test are different kinds of seismic waves registered at the different distance from the nuclear exp-losion's epicenter. There are remaining quazistatic phenomena in the epicentral zone's vicinity after a nuclear explosion.
The radiate and electro-magnetic effects of the nuclear underground or underwater nuclear explosion (UNE)aren't consi-dered In the Project.
The mathematical problems connected with different aspects of an UNE would be solved to calculate different decamouflage factors.
1. THE NEAREST ZONE OF THE NUCLEAR EXPLOSION. DETERMINATION OF THE SEISMIC SOURCE FUNCTION.
It Is necessary to Investigate the dynamic processes In the zone of non-elastic rock strains of t&e UNE (Including the rupture zone) to calculate the efficient seismic source function for analysis of the seismic signal spreading at the distance about 100-10000 km. The up-to-date state equations, of rocks are proposed to use for decision of the problem In the Project. These equations take Into account gas-water saturation of rocks, plas-tic and quazibrittle failure processes In materials, dilatancy etc.
The Software developed In the Project would be used for analysis of the elastic waves radiated by the UNE. The signal characteristic frequency connected with the rupture zone size and the medium seismic efficiency could be calculated by using the Software.
The fitting parameters of the seismic source function (Blandford-Seggern, Muller-Murphy) could be determined during the analysis of the explosion mechanical effects for various types of geological media. Some calculations would be carried out for decoupling.
2. REGIONAL AND TELESEISMIC DISTANCES. MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS SYNTHETIC SEISMOGRAMS.
Calculated seismic source functions of UNE blasted under various conditions would be used for exploring of the radiated seismic signal characteristics registered at different distances from the explosion epicenter. New physical models of elastic waves spreading In the Earth's core, crust and mantle would be used at the project. The models take into account Earth's layered structure, nonlinear, disslpatlve and dispersive properties of rocks and seismic wavepath.
The epicenter of an underwater explosion can be located at different distances from a shore near the ocean or sea free sur-face. The problem of discovering and identification of under-water nuclear tests would be considered in the Project.
The analysis would help to Investigate the principal prob-lems of the UNE identification and yield estimation by modeling the processes occuring at unsanctioned UNE tests.
3. QUAZI-STATIC PROCESSES IN THE EPICENTER ZONE.
The Software would be used in modeling quasi-static pro-cesses in the nearest UNE's zone. The elastic waves velocities in destruction and cracking zones, percolation of gazes from the epicenter, cavity formation would tie calculated by using the Software also.
One of the main results of the Project would be the development of the practical recommendations for seismic sounding, acoustic emission measuring after explosion and other measurements In the case of unsanctioned UNE testing.
