The research and development of this system has a significant meaning for solution to the following actual problems that have common meaning to all mankind.
1. Prevention of the possible collision of the asteroid with the Earth by its transference to the safe orbit by means of the STS.
2. Obtaining of minerals of the asteroids with their subsequent transportation to the Earth and their development.
3. Utilization of the asteroids for construction of interplanetary stations (IS) aiming the further exploration of space.
4. Control of the energy balance of the atmosphere of the Earth by means of the asteroid albedo change at the expense of correction their near-earth orbits.
Schematically functioning of the technical system can be imagined in following way.
For prevention of collision of the asteroid with the Earth the STS is delivered to the asteroid by means of a carrier rocket, the soft landing and its fixing on the surface of th asteroid is carried out. After switching on the racket engine towing of the asteroid takes place for its transference to the safe orbit.
For obtaining and exploitation of minerals of the asteroid and construction of the interplanetary station (IS) on the asteroid this asteroid must be towed to one of the Lagrange points in which the asteroid will remain motionless relatively the straight line that connects the Earth with the Moon.
From space physics it is known that the climatic characteristics of planets depend on various factors including planetphysical (composition of the atmosphere, albedo of clouds and surface). One can suppose that the albedo change of those asteroids that have orbits close to the Earth can influence on the climate of the Earth when their orbit changes. Probably the control of energy balance will be possible by change of the movement trajectory and albedo of this asteroid.
In the proposed Project carrier rockets and rocket engines for towing of asteroids are not considered. Within the frame of the Project the following tasks will be researched and solved the following tsks: orientation and soft landing of the STS, fixing of the STS on the surface of the asteroid, orientation of the asteroid in relation to the orbit and transportation of the asteroid to the orbit of destination.
The objective of the Project is the development of the space transport system (STS) for control of the asteroid movement trajectories.
The basis of the technical solution to the present problem is the space transport system (STS) that will be created on the basis of the Patent of the Russian Federation No.2026213 of January 9, 1995 for invention of “The method of delivery of the celestial body to the planet of destination and the transport for its implementation” and the Patent of Georgia No.GEP 19991731 of October 27, 1998 for invention of the same title. (The author of these patents is S.Khutsishvili, citizen of Georgia one of the recipients of the present Project). In the course of the Project implementation versions of technical solutions of these patents will be specified and davelop taking into account contemporary achievements of the world scientific schools in this field.
The sphere of implemetation of the Project is outer space. For realization of the Project the preliminary researches must be conducted in the Earth conditions by means of simulation of the processes that really take place on the models and laboratory test stands.
Employment of scientists and specialists connected with weapon, their orientation in peaceful activities and partial solution to the problem to employment of the personnel of the Tbilisi Aviation Plant “Tbilaviamsheni”, the Georgian Technical University etc. meets the ISTC goals and objectives. Participation in the Project will help integration of scientists of Georgia in the international scientific community will be conducive to solve national and international problems that can the meaning of common mankind such as prevention of collision of asteroids with the Earth, development of minerals from entrails of asteroids, construction of interplanetary stations on the celestial bodies, control of energy balance in the atmosphere of the Earth. The competence of scientists and specialists engaged in the Project corresponds to the level of problems set in the Project.
The role of the foreign collaborator will be in discussions of tactical and technical requirements, technical tasks, methods of researches and designing, results of breadboarding and modeling and tests as well. The significant meaning will have the role of the foreign collaborator in coordination of participation of leading scientists from foreign countries in work on the separate problems of the Project. Besides that, the role of the foreign collaborator will be in rendering of assistance in presenting material support to the participants of the Project in visiting international meetings.
The expected results have scientific, practical and commercial meaning. The result of the Project will be the remotely operated working model of the space transport for control of the asteroid movement trajectories and the program package of computer graphics designed for illustration of application of the proposed technical system (elimination of possible collision of the asteroid with the Earth, development of minerals from the entrails of asteroids, construction of the interplanetary stations on the celestial bodies, control of the energy balance in the atmosphere of the Earth for control of climatic conditions).
The objective of the Project has the meaning common to all mankind and, therefore, the wide, all-round international cooperation with engaging the scientists of leading countries in the work on the Project is inevitable.
