Project summary
Objective of the project is: provision of technical-economic background of non-traditional air conditioning system, choice of optimal set of equipment with respect to specific site of Black Sea coast of Georgia, assessment of the ecological effect of this system in case of its application. One should note that apart from the evident advantage of the new system before the traditional one, it does not utilize any low boiling point refrigerant. Besides, the reduced power consumption adequately reduces emission of CO2 to the atmosphere. The objective is attained by developing the calculation method for the new AC system, by choice of compact and effective contact heat exchangers and determining their optimal parameters. At the same time the field observations – experimentally determined temperature characteristics in the strata located below the disturbance zone within Batumi-Kobuleti coastline carried out on the research boat equipped with appropriate apparatus will be laid down into the basis. The present project may be interesting for big tourist and sanitation complexes (hotels, sanatoriums, guest houses, rest homes, etc.), big administrative buildings, as well as agricultural production sector. The project realization will enable the Georgian scientists including former "weapon" scientists to participate in solving today's most important global problem of rendering the environment healthier and assist to creation of comfortable living conditions for people in coastal zones of Black Sea countries. The present project suggests to:
1. Provide theoretical background for the application of the new air conditioning system.
2. Develop the engineering method of calculation applied to specific site.
3. Assess possible scale of application of the new air conditioning system in the Black Sea countries.
The project will be realized in the Centre of Eco-Energetic Researches on the basis of field researches planned to carry out with the help of special expeditions to the Batumi and Kobuleti coasts.
The present project should be regarded as an applied research.
Possible results of the researches completed under the present project can be:
1. Validation of practical meaning of the new air conditioning system for the Black Sea coastal regions of Georgia.
2. Reduction of the electric power consumption compared to the traditional air conditioning system.
3. Attaining the ecological effect linked with the absence of low boiling point freons and the reduction of CO2 emission.
The collaborators agree to participate in the scientific researches envisaged by the project, share the information during the project implementation, view the reports and render consulting as needed, discuss the results at conferences, visit the project participants and be their hosts as well.
The International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) is an intergovernmental organization connecting scientists from Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Georgia with their peers and research organizations in the EU, Japan, Republic of Korea, Norway and the United States.
ISTC facilitates international science projects and assists the global scientific and business community to source and engage with CIS and Georgian institutes that develop or possess an excellence of scientific know-how.
