Project summary
Reactor technologies with high temperature gas-cooled reactors in the field of effective production of electric energy using direct gas-turbine cycle require the development of high-temperature high-efficiency recuperators. As a result of joint developments OKBM, General Atomics and Framatome found a new design decision for recuperator plate-type heat exchange surface.
This design decision does not require special brazing what significantly cuts the cost of the recuperator manufacturing, is universal and can be widely used in various spheres of the industry.
The goal of the Project is the development and manufacture of pilot heat exchange element of the proposed recuperator and carrying out the representative tests to confirm thermal-hydraulic and operational characteristics.
The Results Expected
As a result of work at the Project the pilot heat exchange elements of the recuperator will be manufactured and tested and representative tests carried out to confirm thermal-hydraulic and operational characteristics.
The data obtained allow drawing a conclusion about the manufacturability of the proposed recuperator design and the possibility of its application in a GT-MHR-type plant and other spheres of the industry branches.
Technological Approach and Methodology
When performing the works the experience of plate-type heats exchanger’s creation in Russia and, in particularly, at OKBM and JSC "Teploobmennik" will be used. When carrying out investigations of the heat exchange elements the OKBM experimental base as well as helium rigs will be used.
The calculation analysis will be performed using computers and tested programs.
