Project summary

For creation nuclear reactors the using of uranium dioxide with doping agents (thinly-landed elements) as fuel is perspective. In that case the quantitative analysis problem of microstructure parameters, characterized the doping agents distribution on matrix of the base fuel material, grains and holes sizes, including statistical data is actual. The general solution of this problem according to the required reliability of images microstructure analysis of the fuel tablets under the certified method is useful.

Accuracy of results of automatic processing depends mainly on the qualitative preparation of the metallographic specimens, technical characteristics, computer analysis methods. In that connection together with metallographic specimens preparation of methods and manufacturing of standards the design phase component distinguishing method of stable for different influences factors images with further realization them in complete complex is a problem.

At present there is no exactly what's needed system in Russia and abroad. Automatic image processing system offered by this project is turned to the solution of the problems discussed in it. The system comprises as follows; a microscope with automatic research table, a TV camera, image input-output device, personal computer. Main characteristics of this system are the next: image format – not less than 512 ґ 512, color realization – R,G,B-color components, brightness gradation number 256 under the every component, computer – IBM PC/AT 486.
